Top 5 Tips For Transfer Students This Spring

Transferring to GMercyU?

Emma Campbell, Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions, shares helpful advice just for you.

For more, see our Transfer Students page, Transfer Nursing page, or Transfer Student Instant Decision Day page.

Hi, I'm Emma Campbell and I love helping students transfer to G Mercy U. Hear my top five tips for you this spring. Number one, file your FAFSA as soon as you can. Within one to two weeks of acceptance, our Financial Aid Office will create a financial aid package for you based on your FAFSA. Then, it's time to review your financial aid package. We recommend you set up a meeting with your Admissions Counselor, or a financial aid team member to answer any questions that you have. We also have an appeals process for financial aid, which your Admissions Counselor can tell you more about.

Number two, review the Unofficial Transcript Evaluation that your counselor sent to you via email. It will list your potential transfer credits to G Mercy U. If you have a question about a course not transferring just ask your counselor. There may be a reason why or we can possibly ask the Dean for an exception.

Number three, visit campus. We offer daily tours and meetings with counselors and professors. We would love to see you on campus. Come talk to our expert professors about your program and the future career opportunities with your degree.

Number four, "Transfer Tuesday" is every Tuesday. You don't need to schedule a meeting just drop in via Zoom any Tuesday to meet with the Transfer Counselor. This is a great way to get quick answers to any questions that you have. Just go to gmercyu.edu/transfer for the Zoom link.

And number five, last but not least, save the date for this year's "Transfer Instant Decision Day and Tour." Get all of your application materials in before the date and we'll review them in advance. On the day of we can make it official, give you a tour, and celebrate your acceptance to G Mercy U. So that was our top five. I hope that was helpful. If you're a nursing student, there are a few deadlines to keep in mind. You can also find this information on our transfer nursing page on our website. If you have any questions at all, just reach out. I can't wait to see you on campus this fall.
