Residence Hall Hunters

Welcome to House Hunters, GMercyU-style! Follow a newly accepted student, Danielle, and her dad as they explore our housing options and their amenities.

Each of our four residence halls offers plenty of space to study and hang out with your friends. You’ll also find a supportive community and staff that will quickly become part of your GMercyU family.

I was recently accepted into Gwynedd Mercy University and I'm here on campus looking at my residence hall options. I'm looking for a place I can study and get work done but also relax and have fun. I just need to find my dad. Not again. This is why we should have brought mom

Welcome to the Triplex. This building is made up of actually three residence halls. We have Loyola Hall, St. Bridget Hall and Sienna Hall. Right here, is our glass lounge where we host a lot of our programs, activities, and events. And students just come down here to hang out, play video games and study. Also within the Triplex, we have the Offices of Residence Life, the Health and Wellness Center and Public Safety. Now I'll be taking Danielle and her dad to Loyola Hall. Loyola is our traditional style hall, which features community bathrooms, recently updated lounge areas with new furniture and flat screen TVs. And is within walking distance to the dining hall and classrooms. So this is Loyola Hall, this is one of our traditional style rooms. We call it community style for a reason, that it's two residents that share one room, and then everyone on the floor shares a bathroom down the hall. We've actually recently renovated and added some new furniture to our lounge.

What about laundry? I don't want her bringing stuff home every weekend, washing everything. She can't even separate the darks from the whites. Is there there laundry here?

Yes, absolutely. We have laundry facilities on most of our floors, including this floor, and it's actually included in the cost. So it's free to students, you're not gonna have to lug around any coins.

Is there Wi Fi?

Yes, there's Wi Fi. We actually have Ethernet plugs. So if you want us to plug in, you can do that. Or you can just get access to your GMercyU you email account.

The closets are huge.

Danielle, I don't know, this a great room. I can see you here.

Now I'll be taking Danielle and her dad to St. Bridget Hall. St. Bridget Hall is suite style, which features to double rooms that share a bathroom. Residents in St. Bridget Hall can control their own heating and air conditioning, and have a great view of our beautiful campus.

So welcome to St. Bridget Hall. This is also for first year students. And it's a suite style living environment. Hey, wait a minute, where's your dad?

I don't know.

There he is-- [INAUDIBLE]

Come on. Give up the ball.

Well, I was gonna show you the room in St. Bridget. We might as well start here.

Guys, this is a lot of fun.

You have class today?

Yeah, I gotta go to class?

Yeah.

Why don't I just go with you?

I think we're pretty [INAUDIBLE]...

So like I said, [INAUDIBLE] did a suite style building for our freshmen. And what suites style means is that there are two double rooms that are shared by a bathroom. So the students in this room and the students next to her are connected by a bathroom right here. Each room does also have their own sink. So you don't have to fight over the sink when you're brushing your teeth at nighttime. The students are responsible for cleaning their own bathroom, but it really does offer them a little bit more privacy.

It's kind of cold in here.

Well actually one of the great things about St. Bridget is the students also control their own HVAC unit, which is where they use their heating and cooling. So if you're cold, you can turn the heat on. If you're hot, you can turn the air conditioning on.

So what do you think? Not again?

You know this guy?

No.

He's just trying to find the bookstore.

So what did you think about Loyola?

I really like the community style. I think you share more with the residents so that we get to become friends with them easier.

And how about the space in St. Bridget?

I like the idea of having my own bathroom. I like the privacy.

We have a really tough decision to make. What are you going to decide?

I think I'm going to go with Loyola. That's a great choice. I think you will have a great time.

Merv agrees.
